Programme Essentials

To join one of our 12-month Internships you will be:

  • Currently be an undergraduate studying at University and applying for a Placement year in your 2nd or final year
  • Looking for work experience after completing A-Levels or equivalent course or an Apprenticeship
  • Eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship from June 2027 - July 2028.

What will I be doing?

Carnival Films is one of the UK's leading TV Drama production companies. As Development Intern you will be assisting the development team and learning about the process of bringing scripted drama from initial idea to greenlight. The role involves managing submissions of materials, compiling project-specific research, reading and reporting on books and scripts and completing rights checks. You will provide valuable support with the day to day admin of the team including the updating of databases, managing development-related purchases, and creating and distributing weekly alerts and memos, as well as providing cover for the Development Assistant when they are away, and occasional front-of houses duties if required.

What do I need to bring to the role?

  • A passion for Broadcasting and Media (particularly an interest in film/TV drama) with a desire to develop a career in Development
  • Attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise
  • Ability to work with confidential materials discreetly and responsibly
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong IT skills; a confident user of Microsoft Office

What will I learn from this opportunity?

  • Editorial Analysis: Read and make timely assessments of material and hone editorial judgement
  • Research Skills: Work to specific brief from writer or development staff to collate research to support project development
  • Project Strategy: Extend understanding of how a project evolves from initial idea to a script to pitch to broadcasters
