Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs and building for our Wellingborough Head Office, in Northamptonshire. Summary of the course:

The Engine Workshop Technician apprentice role is a developmental position within Wellingborough Head Office, in Northamptonshire, offering experience to join our team specializing in engine repairs and building. The role is to be 100% onsite 5 days per week (7.5 hours per day) with 3-days study a week for 1st year and 1 day study a week for 2nd year with Bedford College group at the Corby Campus, this will be leading to a AME Advance Mechanical Engineering level 3 qualification once completed.

External Qualifications and Competencies

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of engine theory
  • Contribute to and be involved in various continuous improvement projects
  • Diagnose faults and use recognized troubleshooting techniques to identify issues
  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and full engine rebuilds
  • Work with advanced equipment, including engine dyno testing
  • Gain wider business experience and exposure

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Eligibility / What We Are Looking For

  • Obtained equivalent of GCSEs in Design Technology and Science grades 5/B or above, Math’s and English language and literature grade 4/C or above, all other subjects taken at grade 4/C or above.
  • Must have been a UK resident for 3 years or above.
  • A mechanical sympathy to develop upon
  • Be confident in communicating with various people
  • Have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, enjoy problem solving and finding solutions
