Job Description

Technical Solutions Level 4 Apprenticeship - Solutions Specialist

DESIGN THE SOLUTIONS THAT POWER OUR CUSTOMERS

Our Solutions Architecture team design innovative, scalable technology solutions that turn complex customer requirements into clear, practical outcomes. Grow your potential as a Technical Solutions Apprentice, gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced architects, and kickstart your career in technology with a starting salary of £27,000.

Make things happen

As an apprentice, you’ll gain hands-on experience and structured training to build a long-term career with Virgin Media O2. From day one, you’ll develop the technical and commercial knowledge needed to design tailored solutions for real business customers.Day-to-day, you could be:

  • Reviewing customer requirements (often pre-qualified by the Sales Engineering team) and translating them into clear technical solution designs
  • Analysing network records across fibre, transmission and optical infrastructure to identify the best-fit, scalable solution for each client
  • Collaborating with vendor partners and internal teams to explore new equipment and capabilities, supporting more complex opportunities — including occasional visits to customer sites

We’re a flexible-first organisation because we believe people do their best work with choice and clarity. To support meaningful collaboration, we ask everyone to connect in person at least eight days a month. That could mean time in the office, volunteering days, or away days - anywhere collaboration happens.

Bring your authentic self

We’re looking for motivated candidates who are passionate about technology and keen to be at the forefront of understanding our new systems. To be eligible, you’ll need at least five GCSEs at Level 4–9 (or equivalent). Experience with tools like Cisco or CompTIA is a bonus but not required - what matters most is your passion to learn, data mindset, and ability to work within a team. Other qualities we’d like to see include:

  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • Organisational skills

With inclusivity at the heart of everything we do, we’re 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we’re keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances. We’re an equal opportunities employer, embedding equity and inclusion into everything we do - from the policies we craft to the relationships we build. We believe an inclusive, diverse culture makes for a better business and a brighter world. The only barrier to applying would be if you didn’t have the right to work in the UK.

What’s in it for you

Not only will you be working towards a Level 4 Network Engineering Apprenticeship, but you’ll be supported every day to learn the technical skills needed to thrive with us, leading to a Solutions Specialist role at Virgin Media O2.
