Job Description

Regulatory Compliance Level 4 Apprenticeship

We offer you the chance to start your career and make a real difference.

At the FCA, we regulate financial services firms in the UK to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, promoting economic growth, and shaping the future of UK financial services. We’re looking for apprentices to join our diverse and highly capable teams across the FCA.

About the Programme

The Regulatory Compliance Apprenticeship programme at the FCA is designed to prepare you for a career in regulation. The Regulatory Compliance Apprenticeship will develop your skills in analysing data, information and intelligence, undertaking risk assessments, preparing for inspections and audits and promoting compliance through advice and guidance. In this role, you will work across a variety of projects, working with a range of stakeholders to best assure compliance.

To apply for this programme, you will need to have 2 A-Levels or equivalent at grade C. You will also need a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent at grade 4 (C) – 9 (A) including Maths and English. By the end of the programme, you’ll be ready for roles across the FCA’s Regulatory profession, including divisions such as Supervision, Policy & Competition and Authorisations.

The key responsibilities of a Regulatory Compliance Apprentice will include:

  • Learn and apply the FCA’s supervisory approach by working on a range of supervision and authorisation cases, supported by senior colleagues.
  • Analyse data, information and intelligence to identify risks, inform supervisory judgements, and support proportionate intervention decisions.
  • Manage a portfolio of cases either in supervision policy and competition or authorisations, including engaging with firms, assessing compliance, and progressing matters in line with agreed processes and service standards.
  • Undertake risk assessments and support inspections, audits and investigations, including work arising from complaints, incidents or identified non‑compliance.
  • Assist with investigations following regulatory breaches, including gathering evidence, documenting findings and supporting corrective actions.
  • Promote compliance by providing clear advice and guidance to firms, and following up to assess the effectiveness of remedial actions.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and partner agencies to support effective supervision and regulatory outcomes.
  • Contribute to the delivery of new regulatory initiatives and policy changes, supporting readiness activity and operational implementation.
  • Produce high‑quality outputs such as case notes, assessments, briefings and project support materials.
  • Actively participate in training and development programmes, applying learning to day‑to‑day work and sharing knowledge with the wider team.
  • Take opportunities to contribute beyond core casework, supporting team projects and wider departmental or cross‑organisation initiatives.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Formal learning aligned to your apprenticeship programme
  • Bespoke induction and training
  • Networking opportunities
  • Social events with your apprenticeship cohort
  • Opportunities to hear from senior speakers across the business
