Role Overview

We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our Finance Department as a Finance Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone eager to kickstart their professional career and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic finance environment.

As part of your 5 year apprenticeship, you'll study for a Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician apprenticeship. You can then continue your journey to an ACCA or CIMA professional chartership. There will be an opportunity to work in some core areas within finance where you'll receive hands on learning whilst studying through day release. You will work initially within our Clients & Markets team alongside our Finance Lead and Finance Analyst, supporting the delivery of major construction bids and the business as a whole.

You will need to be well organised and have excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities

  • Creating and posting journals into the general ledger
  • Analysing monthly overhead spend
  • Reviewing bid budgets and completing variance analysis
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management reports in accordance with the finance timetable and deadlines
  • Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budgeting.
  • Reviewing prepayments and accruals

Apprenticeship Level and Standard

Accounting Technician Apprenticeship – Level 4

  • Apprentices will complete the first three modules and exams of the Applied Knowledge level of ACCA, plus a Foundations in Professionalism online module / or equivalent for CIMA.
  • The opportunity to continue supported study to obtain a chartered qualification and membership following completion of the remaining exams, or a further Professional Accountant apprenticeship – Level 7.

Entry Requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 96 UCAS points across 3 A-levels or equivalent
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship
  • Have strong numeracy and literacy skills

  • Online Assessment - You will complete a series of assessments designed to understand how you approach workplace situations, your preferred ways of working, as well as exercises to evaluate your critical thinking and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Video Interview - At this stage, you will be invited to record responses to two questions set by our hiring team. You will have sufficient time to prepare and ensure you present yourself confidently.
  • Assessment Centre - Our in-person assessment centres, held at a LOR office, provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills through a combination of individual tasks, short interviews, and group activities. This is also a chance to experience our culture first-hand.
  • Outcome - We aim to provide feedback and communicate the outcome of your assessment centre within two weeks.
