Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a confident individual with a positive attitude and a can‑do approach, who is keen to build their experience and grow with M&G. A successful candidate will be self‑motivated, curious, able to build strong relationships and work effectively as part of a team. They should feel comfortable using their initiative, working independently when needed, and be eager to learn and progress.

The Role

As a Business Admin Risk apprentice within the Executive Business Management team in Risk & Compliance, you will play a key role in helping the function operate efficiently and supporting leaders in delivering their strategic priorities. You’ll contribute to tracking progress against key goals, assist leadership with decision‑making and improvement initiatives, and take part in a variety of cross‑team projects, including those that are sensitive or complex.

Your responsibilities will also include supporting core operational processes such as budgeting, resource planning, supplier management, and issue resolution. In addition, you will help shape internal communications by drafting messages, preparing content for Townhalls and employee surveys, and coordinating leadership activities. You will organise meetings, develop agendas, participate in working groups, and assist with preparing reports or papers for committees and regulators. Overall, you’ll be an important part of keeping the team organised, connected, and focused on delivering its strategic aims.

What will you be doing?

  • Support Strategic Projects: Assist senior team members with the delivery of strategic priorities and transformation activities, learning how business objectives are set and tracked.
  • Help with Communications: Contribute to drafting and coordinating internal communications, such as preparing content for Townhalls, newsletters, and employee surveys.
  • Assist with Team Operations: Provide support in managing essential processes, including resource planning, supplier procurement, and budget tracking, under supervision.
  • Participate in Meetings: Help organise agendas and take notes during leadership team meetings and working groups, ensuring actions are recorded and followed up.
  • Prepare Reports: Assist in gathering information and preparing basic reports or papers for committees and other audiences, developing skills in professional writing.
  • Learn Stakeholder Management: Shadow senior colleagues to observe how relationships are built and maintained with stakeholders across the function.
  • Support Employee Engagement: Help coordinate responses to employee opinion surveys and participate in activities that promote team engagement.

What will I need to be successful in this role?

  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal

  • High level of accuracy and good attention to detail
  • Can effectively manage day to day work, alongside apprenticeship qualification
  • Moderate understanding of the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • A proactive team player who is confident about working with others but also independently and can promptly escalate any issue and work remotely where required
  • Logical and analytical approach coupled with intelligence, passion and a drive to learn

Minimum Requirements

  • Available to start the apprenticeship programme in September 2026
  • You must not be enrolled into another further education programme at the beginning of the programme
  • Be a UK citizen or have proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Living in Scotland
  • Pass in Five National 5s including English and Math
  • Minimum of Grade C in Two Highers or equivalent

Training Provided

As a Business Admin Risk Apprentice with M&G, you will undertake the Digital Applications Support SCQF Level 6 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will be delivered through a blend of live online learning, pre-recorded lectures, and face to face inductions and masterclasses

Future Prospects

This is a fixed term contract for 18 - 23 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the Apprentice performance, headcount, and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to the specific role/department.

Salary

£24,400 per annum plus benefits
