Environmental Health & Safety Placement 2026 - Melksham, Wiltshire
In the early 1800s, British engineer Richard Trevithick (1771-1833) constructed the first railway steam locomotive that travelled at 8 kilometres per hour. Today in Asia trains travel at maximum speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour. Key Environmental Responsibilities:
- Support the KBRS UK business to achieve its carbon reduction targets through energy improvement opportunities
- Assist with the completion of monthly Environmental reports for group
- Involved with developing the annual emissions report for internal and external purposes
- Provide staff engagement by developing and producing periodic Environmental newsletters, presentations, training information and legal updates using differing methods of communication
- Support with internal and external audits to meet the criteria required within the ISO14001 standard
- Assist in developing a robust employee Environmental training program for the UK facilities
Key Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Organise and assist in producing quarterly Environmental and H&S meetings
- Analysis of all accident, near misses, safety concerns and damage events and production of reports and information for different teams within the business
- Facilitate the scheduling and maintenance of the internal risk assessment program
- Assist with maintaining a comprehensive safety programme covering recognition, evaluation, and control of occupational safety hazards
- Maintain the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) register
- Facilitate the continual improvement of the KBRS UK safety performance through conducting display screen equipment assessments, safety inspections and tours whilst also assisting in the development of internal risk assessments and accident reports
- Assist with EHS safety tours and inspections at the KB facilities, external suppliers premises and customers depots
- Interact closely with the Operations management team and staff, facilities, and other KB personnel to achieve both compliance and continuous improvement of the EHS management systems at Knorr Bremse
