Job Specification

Position: Business Management and Marketing Assistant – Digital Imaging 13 month Student Industrial Placement

Regularly interacts with: Product Managers, Sales account managers, Sample warehouse manager, Brand communications team, European team, Regional Marketing, Japan HQ, Other placement students

Primary Location: Bracknell Office

Travel Requirements: Must be able to attend the Bracknell office up to three times a week (hybrid working model). Occasional travel may be required.

Role Overview

Panasonic is giving you the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation within consumer electricals. Panasonic has grown to become one of the largest electronics companies in the world, producing market-leading products in kitchen appliances, personal care, cameras, audio systems, and many more.

You will be joining the Imaging team in a year in which the management and marketing teams will be integral. The Imaging category includes Mirrorless Cameras and Compact Cameras under the LUMIX brand.

Primary Responsibilities

This role involves:

  1. Regularly updating weekly reports and developing a thorough understanding of market forecasts and data.
  2. Analysing market data monthly, creating and presenting PowerPoint presentations to update senior management on key insights.
  3. Monitoring sales and advertising activity on Amazon and suggesting optimisations for campaigns.
  4. Assisting in organising and executing promotional activities and events.
  5. Liaising with colleagues in Europe and Japan regarding products, stock, and marketing materials.
  6. Managing the process for creating local kits and bundles.
  7. Ordering stock from factories or other sales companies in Europe, arranging deliveries and collections of stock between EU countries and the UK to maintain operating levels, and making decisions on stock orders from central for the UK.
  8. Taking responsibility for product setup and price setting.
  9. Maintaining strong communication between product, sales, and brand communications teams to support sales and marketing actions.
  10. Updating web content for online retailers and having a creative influence on how products are marketed online.
  11. Assisting with the business planning process during your year with us.
  12. Taking charge of the recruitment process to find the next student after you complete your placement.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Panasonic offers a comprehensive training package and a one-month handover period with the current student, ensuring a smooth transition and in-depth understanding of the role.

Experience and/or knowledge of the following would be beneficial:

  • Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Teams)
  • Key social media platforms
  • Photoshop
  • Modern marketing knowledge
  • Independent working
  • Working in a team
  • Communicating with customers via email
  • Presentation skills (or the willingness to develop these skills)

Whilst knowledge and experience of a business environment is helpful, a proactive personality and willingness to succeed is key.

  • An interest in commercial marketing and/or consumer electronics will help you to succeed in each category (Audio, Imaging, Personal Care & Kitchen)

Qualifications

Must be a current university student on a course with an integrated industrial placement year where this experience would be beneficial to your course.
