Electrical and Electronics Degree Apprenticeship - Solihull

Electrical and Electronics Degree Apprenticeship - Aerospace

Starting salary: £22,990 per year

Location: Solihull

Duration: 4 years

At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.

By joining Rolls-Royce in an Emerging Talent programme, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.

Position summary:

As an Electrical and Electronics Degree Apprentice, you’ll be working on electronic controls, electric drive and hybrid-electric systems within our Aerospace, Nuclear and Marine businesses, and have the opportunity to shape some of our most modern technology projects like the new UltraFan engine and SMRs (Small Module Reactors). All of these are helping to achieve our ultimate ambition of reaching net zero carbon emissions for our business and our customers.

What you’ll be doing:

Over four years, you’ll develop invaluable technical skills. Working with world-class experts, you’ll learn on the job, working on everything from digital and analogue design, all the way through to testing and manufacturing. Alongside this, you’ll study for your Electrical & Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Warwick.

Day to day, you’ll be part of exciting work based in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility in Solihull. From research, design and test, to build, modify and develop, every stage of development is done under one roof. It’s an unrivalled environment where you can apply the theory you’ve learned as part of your degree. And be inspired to do work you can be proud of.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Five GCSEs which must include a minimum of Maths at grade 6/B, English Language at grade 4/C and Science (triple, double or single award excluding single Biology) at grade 4/C plus 2 others at grade 4/C.
  • 112 UCAS points (obtained or predicted) from either:
  • 3 A-Levels to include Maths at a grade B minimum and Physics or Electronics A-Level at grade B minimum
  • Acceptance of BTEC qualifications is reviewed directly by the training provider on a case-by-case basis. However, your BTEC must be in an Engineering discipline which must include either a distinction in Further Maths or have a Maths A-Level in addition to the BTEC at a minimum grade C

Every bit as important as your academic achievements, however, are the personal qualities you bring to the role. You’ll need to be an agile thinker, creative problem-solver, someone who’s willing to learn and ready to work as part of a team.

Beyond that, we’re looking for people who understand the nature of integrated power and thermal management. And can show a real interest in electrical and electronics and the future of sustainable power.

Our behaviours drive us - we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. We’ll expect that of you, too.

What you’ll get:

  • A competitive starting salary with annual pay rises
  • Fully sponsored Applied Professional Engineering degree from the University of Warwick
  • 33 days’ holiday per year (including bank holidays)
  • Competitive pension
  • A choice of voluntary benefits including discounts at nationwide stores, gyms, discounted health care, free digital GP, Cycle to Work scheme and more all available on our TotalReward portal
  • Continuous learning and development
  • Support from managers, leaders, mentors and other apprentices
  • Opportunities to develop beyond your day-to-day role and get involved in social activities
  • An independent, 24-hour, confidential counselling service

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.

Rolls-Royce are committed to being a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace where individuality is valued, diverse perspectives fuel innovation, and everyone can thrive.
