Job Description

Field Technician Apprenticeship

EMBRACE THE TECH REVOLUTION

Our Field Engineers are the qualified experts who dazzle our customers every day, by installing or fixing products in their homes and businesses while offering professional advice. Grow your potential as a Field Technician Apprentice and join us in connecting communities through our technology, earning £26,500 whilst doing it and gaining an industry recognised qualification.

Got a full driver’s licence that allows you to drive one of our vans? Perfect! You’ll use it to reach customers across the region, delivering a friendly, knowledgeable service and linking them to what truly matters. You’ll also help expand our business by encouraging referrals – earn a £50 bonus for every new customer!

Make things happen

As a Field Technician Apprentice, you’ll have opportunities to work on and with the very latest technology, such as our superfast broadband, dazzling TV and entertainment services. By the end of the apprenticeship scheme, you will have mastered the ins and outs of installing and fixing our phone, TV and broadband products, including:

  • Running & installing cables across different sites
  • Adjusting signal levels and connections
  • Configuring our advanced equipment
  • Working at heights to install and update equipment on poles
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions - make sure you’re comfortable with physical, hands-on work in changing environments

You’ll work an average of 37.5 hours per week on a rolling shift pattern, with shifts scheduled between 8am and 8pm. During the scheme, this includes early or late shifts and working 2 out of every 3 Saturdays. Once training is complete, you’ll move to a 4-days-out-of-7 working week.

Bring your authentic self

You must have a full UK driving licence that entitles you to drive our vans and feel comfortable with tasks involving elevated heights. Your wellbeing is our priority, so living in close proximity to your designated areas is required to minimise travel. Beyond these requirements, our apprenticeship opportunities are available to tech-savvy individuals who relish problem-solving and embody our brand values.

We’ll fully train and support you every step of the way through our detailed onboarding stage when you join. You’ll also have a dedicated mentor who will join you on the journey to provide you with ongoing guidance.

With inclusivity at the heart of everything we do, we’re 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we’re keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances. We believe an inclusive, diverse culture makes for a better business and a brighter world. The only barrier to applying would be if you didn’t have the right to work in the UK or hold the correct driving licence.

What’s in it for you

This apprenticeship offers the chance to accumulate a diverse set of skills and gain the experience and knowledge needed to progress within our organisation. Pursue a level 2 Telecoms Field Operative apprenticeship while earning salary of £26,500, rising to £29,000 upon completion. After a qualifying period, we’ll also enter you into a Regional Bonsu Scheme. We’ve also got some amazing benefits, including:

  • 25 days holiday, increasing to 28 days after 5 years, plus your birthday off
  • Flexible benefits package including matching up to 10% of your pension contribution, holiday buying and selling, and discounts on shopping, travel and more
  • Private Bupa healthcare

… and plenty more to support you inside and outside of work.

What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to become skilled in your role, and combines on the job learning and academic study, where you’ll spend approximately 20% of your working hours completing learning with one of our training providers. The programme is fully funded by us, and we’ll support you from day one.
