Are you looking for your first steps into the world of broadcast? Are you set to complete a year in industry as part of your university undergraduate course next year? If the answer is yes and yes, we have a great opportunity for you! Our TV Scheduling and Navigation (On-Air) Interns at Hearst Networks EMEA are immersed in the world of schedule production, graphics strategy and voice over curation.

As key members of the Presentation and Navigation & Continuity teams, you’ll gain insight into the media industry as well as an inside look into what it takes to air a channel. This is your chance to be part of a fast paced, high performing team who collaborate with multiple departments behind the scenes to keep our customers engaged and on our channels.

What does the role entail?

As a TV Scheduling and Navigation (On-Air) Intern, you’ll be responsible for the creative and accurate scheduling of all broadcast presentation elements such as promos, sponsorship, graphics, voiceover announcements and channel branding. You will occasionally write voiceovers and will regularly work with our voiceover artists. You’ll also be playing a vital role in creating strategies that keep our viewers on the channels.

The Presentation team complete daily schedules by gathering all the necessary broadcast elements from across the business and providing them to Playout at the end of each day. Presentation Scheduling requires the ability to work autonomously with confidence as well as part of a team. You will need a sharp eye for detail, good computer skills and strong communication as you will need to liaise with key stakeholders internally and externally. A supportive mindset and can-do attitude is required.

In the Navigation & Continuity team you will strategise and generate on-air graphic excel plans, ensuring the timely availability of all graphics and voiceovers for the scheduling team. It is important that you have the ability to think strategically as part of the role involves contributing ideas on how to keep viewers engaged on our linear channels. Proactivity with good time keeping skills is needed to succeed in this team.

This role will be based in the London Hammersmith office working a minimum 3 days from the office, with the option to work the rest of the week from home. This role is suited to students looking to start their placement year in Summer 2026, and please note that it is based on audience research rather than production research. In our TV Scheduling and Navigation (On-Air) Intern role, you will gain experience with the following:

  • Producing and delivering accurate and creative schedules to Playout in a timely manner
  • Assisting with creating script grids and delivery of navigation assets.
  • Liaising with and preparing Voice Over Artists for self-op sessions.
  • Strategizing for monthly makelists / continuity plans.
  • Supporting Playout and collaborating to remedy On-Air issues.
  • Implementing airtime strategy that has been set in collaboration with the Media Planning team. Understanding and interpreting promotional ratings to best effect.
  • Gaining a good knowledge of the channels, technology and operations required to perform your duties.
  • Consistently identifying, prioritizing and dealing with incidents in a timely and professional manner by implementing the appropriate fix.
  • Escalating problems in the required timescales and via the most effective route, retaining ownership of the issues, promptly carrying out follow up analysis when needed.
  • Taking the initiative to pass on information and updates, providing and receiving training when required.
  • Effectively managing late programme, continuity and promotional changes.
  • Acting to support less experienced colleagues in the execution of their duties as required and, when requested, to better develop the strengths of the team.
  • Playing a key role in the accurate attachment and resolution of issues with templates to ensure maximum minutage for Sky Media, thus playing a vital role in generating revenue.
  • Increasing your knowledge and understanding of key stakeholder teams such as Playout, Media Planning, Programme Planning, Creative, and Compliance.

We are looking for someone who has / is:

  • Completing a university sandwich course with a requirement for an industry placement.
  • Able to consistently produce work to a high standard of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills (to liaise with other departments and convey information clearly).
  • Able to work to fixed deadlines.
  • Microsoft software knowledge.
  • Demonstrable ability to complete work to a high level of accuracy within a required time frame.
  • TV or media brand knowledge.
  • Team player who can add value to a proactive team.
  • High attention to detail.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be an undergraduate student in a sandwich year course, due to start their placement year in Summer 2026 and to return to study in Autumn 2027.
