Civil Engineering Summer Internship - Perth

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineering Summer Intern based in Perth

Salary: £12.39

Location: Caledonian House, West Kinfauns, Perth. PH2 7XZ

Working hours per week: Monday-Friday 08:30 -17:15. 40hrs/week

Start date: July 2026

During your 8-week internship at Amey, you'll be challenged and inspired to reach your full potential while working in a dynamic and stimulating environment. Amey is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Northeast since August 2022, with an increased focus on supporting the creation of sustainable futures for communities, together we will achieve net zero targets and improve the customer experience.

What you will do:

  • To aid and support to the Asset Team to safeguard the travelling public, client and Amey.
  • To assist the Engineer in all activities relating to site visits, scheme preparation, visual condition surveys, coring nights/days and completing Statement of intent investigations stage.
  • Plan and undertake specialist investigations. (Some nightshifts).
  • Assist with preparing technical documents and reports.
  • Assist with visual condition surveys.
  • Use of Transport Scotland’s Asset Management Performance System (AMPS) for scheme identification, development and recording of maintenance intervention.
  • Assist the project manager with project related correspondence from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety Legislation (CDM2015).
  • Always ensure compliance with the operating company's management system.

What you will bring:

  • Working towards achieving a minimum 2:2 Civil Engineering degree
  • Full UK driver’s license
  • Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS office suite
  • Has the appropriate technical skills and ability to successfully work within technical teams with high levels of quality.
  • Knowledge word, excel, PowerPoint, CAD
  • Good communication skills, with ability to successfully work within a team, undertaking internal & external discussions with local clients and other stakeholders.
  • Passion for developing your skills both professional and personally.
  • Have the enthusiasm to be part of a high performing team and a drive for success.
  • Working part of a team – Local & National
