Shape tomorrow’s world with Amey

Amey Consulting operate in the engineering consultancy sector working primarily on providing high quality consultancy services in rail, highways, power, asset management, environmental, sustainability and geotechnical.

Long relationships with clients such as National Highways, Transport for Wales, Transport Scotland Department for Infrastructure and Network Rail are a testament to the fact, we’re not just consultants but partners in your journey towards a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable future.

About the Team

Amey’s geotechnical practice sits within the Highways business and works cross-sector with the Rail and Environment businesses. We carry out geotechnical work on all stages of a project life cycle, from inception to construction and handover of new geotechnical and structural assets. These assets include new bridges, embankments, cuttings and retaining structures. We are also heavily involved in asset management for our major clients across highways and rail sectors. This includes asset inspections, implementation of monitoring plans and design of remedial solutions where failures occur.

What you’ll be doing

As a Geotechnical Engineering Graduate you will become proficient at investigating sites, understanding existing assets and using a broad range of geotechnical products and techniques to help keep the UK’s transport infrastructure in working order. This will be challenging, but our experienced engineers will be there to mentor and support you as you start your journey into geotechnical engineering.

You will work alongside the team to:

  • Plan and supervise ground investigations to inform geotechnical interventions
  • Carry out geotechnical asset inspections on major infrastructure in Rail and Highways sectors
  • Prepare specifications, drawings and reports
  • Propose solutions to engineering problems and perform calculations and analysis to determine their suitability
  • Deliver multidisciplinary schemes in collaboration with colleagues from across the Amey Consulting Business
