Graduate Building Surveyor

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor Graduate in Manchester

Starting Salary: £28,500.00 (Subject to review)

Location: Amey Highways office, Tatton House, 11 Caldey Road, Manchester, M239LF

Working hours per week: Monday – Friday. 36.25hrs/week

Start date: September 2026

Amey is working with Trafford Council to provide Environmental, Highways and Facilities services across the borough. Within FM we look after a varied portfolio of buildings including the historic Trafford Town Hall, children’s homes, libraries, community centres and in excess of 50 schools.

What you will do:

  • As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will have a varied role within the larger FM team on the Trafford Council Contract. Primarily you will be assisting the Asbestos safety advisor, the legionella officer, the mechanical engineer and electrical engineer in compliance. This will include ensuring planned works have been carried out; reading and actioning the recommendations from risk assessments and compliance reports and deputising for the above team members in providing compliance advice for asbestos, legionella and other FM compliance areas. We will provide all necessary training and mentoring to ensure this varied and fulfilling role will be a challenging but rewarding career.
  • To learn from, assist and eventually deputise for the Abestos Safety Advisor, Legionella Officer and others within the FM Team
  • To help write compliance reports and update the KPI for asbestos or legionella.
  • Work with team members and external client to provide a great service.
  • Working effectively with client, colleagues, the public and others of the facilities team.
  • Manage client relationships to ensure their expectations match the service level.
  • Work safely and monitor others including contractors to ensure they are working safely.

What you will bring:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering (with a bias in built environment), Building Surveying/construction or equivalent.
  • Full UK driving license (desirable)
  • Proficient in IT packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good personal skills and able to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Evidence of employment in any field/environment is desirable
  • Ability to work to deadlines and on own initiative
