Graduate - Cyber Security Analyst
- Location: Wokingham
- Start Date: September 2026
- Salary: £34,895 + £2,000 welcome payment
Protect Great Britain’s future. Power up your career in cyber.
Cyber threats move fast. So do we. At NESO (National Energy System Operator), we don’t just power the country – we protect it.
Join our 18-month Graduate Programme in Cyber Security, and you’ll help defend the critical infrastructure that keeps Great Britain running – all while shaping your future in one of the fastest-growing industries in the world.
This isn’t about sitting in a dark room staring at code. It’s about people, purpose and staying one step ahead in a digital world that never stops evolving. Whether you’re passionate about digital forensics, tech innovation or ethical hacking, we’ve got a place for you.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll rotate across teams to experience the full range of cyber activity — from live investigations to shaping future strategy. That could mean:
- Identifying and analysing security risks before they happen
- Working on digital forensics or penetration testing
- Designing new security tools and services
- Supporting live responses to cyber incidents
- Writing technical reports that drive smart decisions
- Advising teams on how to build secure systems
- Collaborating with engineers, analysts, and business partners across NESO
Every day brings something new — and we’ll make sure you get the support, mentorship, and challenge to grow.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for curious, ambitious grads who want to make a real impact. You’ll need to:
- Be in your final year or recently graduated, on track for a 2:2 or above
- Hold a degree in Cyber Security or a related subject like Computing, Information Security or Computer Science
- Have a passion for tech, problem-solving, and continuous learning
- Be able to get National Security Vetting clearance, including 5 years’ UK residency
- UK driving licence – desirable
We actively welcome applications from women and those from underrepresented backgrounds in tech. If you’re looking for a place that supports you to grow, we’re here for it.
What you’ll get
- £34,895 salary + £2,000 welcome payment
- Performance bonus
- 26 days annual leave plus UK public holidays
- Birthday day off – enjoy your birthday as a paid day off!
- Structured training, mentorship and career development
- Access to professional networks, learning pathways and volunteering opportunities
- Work that aligns with your values – and drives impact for everyone
Why NESO?
At NESO, we keep the lights on — literally. But more than that, we’re building a clean, secure, and connected energy future for everyone in Great Britain. Cyber security is key to making that happen.
We believe diverse teams build stronger systems. That’s why we’re committed to inclusion at every level. Whether you studied at a red brick or a remote uni, whether you’re the first in your family to work in tech, or whether you’ve never seen someone like you in cyber before — you belong here.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the heard of what we do. We encourage applications from all backgrounds and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments you may need.
How to apply
- Closing date: Ongoing – we recommend applying early! As soon as all our spaces are filled, we will close the online application form.
- Assessment centres: November 2025 onwards
