About us:

We are seeking keen intellects to join our multidisciplinary team in developing a new generation of digital satellite payloads. You will be immersed in a flight program with access to experts in all the disciplines needed to design complex global communication systems. This is a unique opportunity to explore technological and performance boundaries in an environment unlike anywhere else on Earth.

The Processor Systems team is a world leader in digital signal processors for modern communications satellites. Our products are used in a range of missions, including telecommunications satellites, navigation constellations, and space observatories beyond Earth's orbit. We work with our European colleagues and suppliers around the world, leveraging the most advanced technologies to deliver the best performance for our customers.

What you will be doing:

You will be working to ensure that a combination of digital hardware, firmware and software components on board and on the ground work correctly together to meet all of our customers’ needs. This will involve the development and application of complex software to simulate, control and test our new product designs. Typical activities include:

  • Digital signal processing algorithm design, simulation and analysis;
  • Control software development and validation;
  • Laboratory testing of new processor designs.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Your application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability for the role.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Working towards a degree in Software Engineering or related discipline such as physics, electronic engineering, computer science or mathematics;
  • Initiative to find creative solutions to complex technical problems;
  • Desire to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary engineering team environment;
  • Quick learner, capable of absorbing a wide range of skills and expertise;
  • Proficiency in C, Python or similar software programming languages;
  • Enthusiasm for digital electronic technologies;
  • It would be desirable to have examples of group or investigative projects experience.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
