As a design intern, you will have a fantastic opportunity to learn and apply multi-program knowledge in a multi-national team with a presence in Filton, Broughton, Bremen, and Wichita. Our team owns the Wing Electrical Installation Design (EID) for all Airbus products, including the Single Aisle family, A380, A400M, A330, and A350. We also support cutting-edge Research & Technology (R&T) projects. We are looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people across different organizations and is passionate about systems.

What you will be doing:

As an Electrical Systems Installation (ESI) Engineer, you will gain experience across the whole wing component and will get a good overview of the systems. Day to day you will be helping design the electrical routings across the wing from the systems architecture. You will also help support the definition of this architecture. The tasks will be varied, the pace will be high and require you to use different skills (technical, project management, communication, team work, etc.) in order to complete them successfully. Support from experienced engineers will be available. You will support activities within the ESI team across a variety of programs.

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include:

  • Feasibility studies;
  • Support to concept and development products;
  • Wing perimeter investigations;
  • Real life installation trials and prototyping;
  • Introduction of modifications;
  • Support to in-service fleet and Wing build-support.

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Your application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability for the role.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying for a relevant engineering or technical degree;
  • Able to work with Microsoft or Google Suite tools;
  • Basic programming skills are desirable;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills;
  • Presentation skills;
  • The desire to work in a technical team fast paced environment, providing and receiving support at all times;
  • Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems through technical analysis and cooperation;
  • A strong interest in developing yourself;
  • Good stakeholder management;
  • Awareness of compliance and integrity.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
