Programme Overview

GE Aerospace runs a variety of UK-based apprenticeship schemes—ranging from Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering to Supply Chain, Business Management, and Engineering Degrees—all structured over 3 to 5 years.

Programmes & Locations

Cardiff

  • Business & Management Apprentice: 3 years, NVQ Level 3/4; GCSEs (Maths & English) required. Rotate through departments and gain real business skills.
  • Engineering Apprentice: 3 years, BTEC/NVQ Level 3; GCSEs including Maths, English, Science. Hands-on rotations across repair, overhaul, testing plus Lean methodology.

Cheltenham

  • Supply Chain – Test Technician: Around 3½ years, Level 4 HNC/D; requires GCSEs and Level 3 or A-Levels. Rotational scheme across manufacturing/testing; you’ll complete a tailored qualification.
  • Supply Chain – Advanced Manufacturing: Around 3½ years, Level 3; focused on manufacturing processes and technical support through an electrical engineering apprenticeship.
  • Supply Chain – Business Degree Apprenticeship: Around 3½ years, Level 6; combines rotations with a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.
  • Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice: 4 years, Level 4 HNC/HND; practical rotations with study in Electrical & Mechanical engineering, Lean and problem-solving skills.

Prestwick

  • Engineering Apprentice: 3 years, SCQF Level 6; rotate across mechanics, fitters, electricians, machinists, welders, and office support to gain broad competence.

Gloucester (Dowty)

  • Advanced Manufacturing Apprentice: Level 3; work with composite propellers while training for a technical support qualification.

Eligibility & Timeline

  • Entry requirements are usually five GCSEs (grades A*–C or 4+), including English and Maths. Some roles may ask for A-levels or equivalent in relevant subjects.
  • Apprenticeship openings typically arrive each autumn for placements starting the following summer or autumn.
