Overview:

Ready to kickstart your career in machine learning and AI? Join Matillion as an AI Engineer Apprentice and gain hands-on experience building real AI solutions while learning on the job. You’ll be part of our supportive Enterprise Data team, where you’ll work on exciting projects, learn from experienced mentors, and grow your skills in a fast-paced tech environment. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to combine learning with real-world experience in one of the most in-demand areas of tech.

Responsibilities:

  • Run experiments to improve performance of AI systems and large language models.
  • Help build and manage tools for evaluating and deploying AI solutions.
  • Monitor and support production AI systems to ensure they run smoothly.

  • Stay up to date with AI trends and contribute fresh ideas.

Desirable skills:

  • Some experience or knowledge in software, data, or tech-related fields.
  • Python skills and interest in machine learning tools and frameworks.
  • Curious about large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or AI evaluation.
  • Any exposure to cloud tools or MLOps is a bonus.
  • Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced tech role.
  • Great communicator and team player.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Open to feedback and new ideas.
  • Passionate about AI, data, and innovation.

Entry requirements:

Acceptable qualifications include any of:

  • 3+ years in a similar subject-related role.
  • A first degree in a numerate discipline (but excluding Computer Science as not fundable).

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm.

Benefits:

  • Learn while you earn — full support from the Data team and expert mentors.
  • Hybrid working.
  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Private medical insurance (BUPA).
