Are you passionate about technology and eager to launch your career in IT? We’re looking for a motivated and curious IT Engineer Apprentice to join our IT team and gain hands-on experience across a wide range of technologies and systems.

About Kanes Foods:

Kanes Foods is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of fresh, prepared foods. Based in Worcestershire, we produce a wide range of healthy, ready-to-eat products. Founded in 1990, we’ve grown into one of the largest privately owned employers in the region, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and quality

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll play a key role in supporting our IT infrastructure and users across the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management of Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows servers.
  • Helping to monitor and troubleshoot our large-scale network, including Juniper switches and wireless access points.
  • Supporting telephony systems, CCTV, and internal databases.
  • Providing first-line technical support and escalating issues when needed.
  • Assisting with Microsoft Dynamics and other business applications.
  • Participating in exciting IT projects like system upgrades and rollouts.
  • Documenting IT processes and ensuring compliance with security and data protection policies.
  • Collaborating with teams across the company to deliver effective IT solutions.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • A genuine interest in IT and a desire to learn.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A team player who can also work independently.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office.

Desirable:

  • Awareness of networking concepts (e.g., switches, Wi-Fi).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, or Windows Server.
  • Interest or experience in telephony, CCTV, or databases.

Entry requirements:

  • an A-Level in ICT
  • OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
  • OR a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
  • OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working hours:

9am – 5pm.

Benefits:

  • A full apprenticeship programme with on-the-job learning and external study.
  • Mentoring from experienced IT Engineers.
  • Access to a wide range of training resources.
  • Regular feedback and support to help you grow and succeed.
  • Negotiable salary depending on previous experience.

Future prospects:

90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.
