Our Animal Health Science and Technology's BATS department is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate trainee to join our global team as an assay development scientist. This full-time, lab-based role is situated at our picturesque manufacturing site in Milton Keynes. Throughout the twelve-month internship, you will play a vital role in assisting the development and validation of new assays (ELISA, FPLC, and cell-based) focused on testing veterinary vaccines, with an emphasis on the 3R principles (replacement, reduction, and refinement of animal testing).

We are a global biopharmaceutical leader committed to enhancing the lives of individuals through a diverse portfolio of prescription medicines, oncology treatments, life-saving vaccines, and animal health products. Our unwavering dedication to delivering innovative solutions is the driving force behind everything we do.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the development, troubleshooting, and validation of in vitro assays, including cell-based assays, ELISAs, and FPLC.
  • Provide support for the maintenance of cell lines in the tissue culture lab.
  • Assist in planning, executing, and reporting on experiments under the guidance of the project lead.
  • Conduct literature searches related to the subject matter.
  • Fulfil general tasks related to health and safety, good manufacturing practice (GMP), and IT.

Requirements:

  • Strong enthusiasm and interest in working within a laboratory environment.
  • Good organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • You must currently be at a UK university and looking to complete a 12-month student internship as part of your undergraduate degree.

This position presents an exciting opportunity for you to gain valuable experience and knowledge in assay development, validation, and regulatory submission processes, while contributing to advancements in the testing of veterinary vaccines and adhering to the principles of animal welfare and reducing the reliance on animal testing. Join our team and make a difference in animal health and science.
