About Kilter Finance

Kilter Finance is an insurance‑focused specialty finance company providing flexible and innovative financing solutions to the global insurance sector. Led by a highly experienced investment team with a strong track record, Kilter partners closely with insurance businesses to offer expert, agile support tailored to their needs.

We’re a growing, entrepreneurial organisation made up of a global team of around 10 people, with colleagues based across the UK, Europe, the USA and India. Despite our international footprint, we operate as a close‑knit team that values collaboration, trust and personal accountability.

At Kilter, students and early‑career professionals have the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders, gain hands‑on experience and make a real impact from day one.

Our Early Careers Opportunities

Kilter Finance offers early careers roles designed to give students and apprentices real responsibility, meaningful learning and accelerated career development.

Our current early careers opportunity includes:

Actuarial Apprenticeship – supporting our Investment team and gaining practical experience across actuarial and financial diligence within a fast‑growing specialty finance business.

As we continue to grow, our early careers offering will evolve to include additional opportunities for students at different stages of their journey.

What Makes Kilter Different?

Expert Partnerships

Every Kilter employee is viewed as an expert in their field. We value diverse skillsets and encourage collaboration, knowledge‑sharing and peer support to achieve our collective goals.

Agile Solutions

Kilter operates with transparency and flexibility at its core. Our working culture is built on trust, open communication and shared responsibility, allowing teams to adapt quickly and work effectively together.

Accelerated Opportunity

Learning and development are central to life at Kilter. We encourage employees to take ownership of their work, explore new responsibilities and grow alongside the business. You’ll be trusted to work autonomously, think creatively and develop your career at pace.

Working at Kilter Finance

Kilter is a predominantly remote organisation, designed to support flexible working across time zones. For UK‑based employees, we have a London office, which the team typically works from around one day per week.

We’re committed to staying connected as a team through:

  • Regular team lunches
  • An annual company offsite
  • In‑person collaboration during onboarding and key projects

For those joining the Investment team, we offer a more office‑based experience during the initial induction period to ensure strong support, learning and integration into the team.

The Actuarial Apprenticeship

To support Kilter’s continued growth, we are seeking an Actuarial Apprentice to join our Investment team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in actuarial science or finance within a specialised, high‑impact environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the Investment team in delivering professional services to other group companies
  • Working closely with the Investment Vice President, Investment Associates and Investment Analyst
  • Gaining hands‑on experience across financial and actuarial diligence, including:
    • Assessing the financial position of companies receiving or seeking investment
    • Evaluating reserve adequacy and future strategic asset allocation

This apprenticeship offers exposure to real projects, expert mentorship and the chance to develop technical and commercial skills early in your career.

Apprenticeship Scheme Details

Kilter’s Actuarial Apprenticeship is delivered remotely by BPP as a Level 4 Actuarial Technician Apprenticeship, combining online learning, dedicated study time during the working week and one‑to‑one support from both a BPP coach and your Kilter line manager. The programme typically takes around two years to complete and offers a clear progression route, with the opportunity to move on to a Level 7 Actuary Apprenticeship and ultimately qualify as an Actuary.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from students who are:

  • Curious, motivated and eager to learn
  • Comfortable taking responsibility and working independently
  • Interested in actuarial, financial or investment‑related careers
  • Excited by working in a small, fast‑growing and collaborative team

If you’re looking to start your career in a role where your work truly matters, Kilter Finance could be the place for you.
