For over a decade, Matt Keane has been an integral part of Westcotts’ talented team of accountants. His story is one of learning, growth and commitment, supported by Westcotts’ focus on providing extensive training and development opportunities right across the firm. From an entry-level position to a senior leadership role, Matt’s career reflects the significant opportunities and route to success offered by apprenticeships and on-the-job learning. 

After completing his A-levels at Devonport High School for Boys, Matt faced a pivotal decision about his future. He embarked on a three-year apprenticeship, earning his AAT qualifications through Accountancy Learning, based locally in Plymouth. This blend of on-the-job training and structured study proved to be the ideal combination for Matt. With his AAT qualification complete, Matt then set his sights on becoming a chartered accountant, again with the support and encouragement of his colleagues and the firm. This involved a further three years of study for the ACCA qualification, through Reed College, including multi-week study blocks at the college’s campus in the Cotswolds. In November 2022, Matt was promoted to Director at Westcotts and in November 2024 became one of our Partners.
