Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer
At Softcat
Level 3 Apprenticeship
Role description
Within my role as a Digital Marketing Apprentice at Softcat, I am gaining exposure to various aspects of digital marketing. My primary responsibilities include planning and implementing marketing campaigns, developing website content, filming and editing video content, managing inbound leads generated through website forms, and raising virtual credit cards to fund marketing activities.
Why an apprenticeship?
Despite receiving university offers to study marketing, I had my heart set on securing an apprenticeship, as I was drawn to the hands-on experience and professional development that an apprenticeship provides. When I was offered a place on Softcat’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme, I knew immediately it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It was an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking company with a strong reputation for developing successful talent.
What have been your highlights?
My biggest highlight within the first two months of my apprenticeship was meeting and working alongside everyone in marketing. The whole team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive, and you truly feel the inclusive and energetic culture as soon as you set foot through the doors.
I have enjoyed getting hands-on with a variety of projects, and I had the opportunity to travel to the Birmingham office to film content for the intern day. This was an exciting opportunity to experience the atmosphere in a different office and strengthen my communication skills with internal stakeholders.
What have you learnt from your experience in the role?
The most important thing I’ve learnt so far in my apprenticeship is to seize every opportunity that comes your way. If your line manager or team members are working on a project or task, ask if you can shadow them or even try it yourself. The best way to learn is by getting involved, and you’ll pick up new skills, build your confidence, and gain a real understanding of how things work within the team.
Best advice for applicants to the Softcat apprenticeship scheme?
If you’re considering applying for the apprenticeship scheme, my advice is to 100% go for it! Softcat places a huge focus on career development and offers a range of apprenticeships across various business functions. I believe there’s no better place to build a strong foundation for your career.
You will join a large cohort of like-minded, motivated apprentices and, from day one, you’ll be supported by people who truly want to help you grow and succeed. During the interview stage, the best thing you can do is bring your true, authentic self. From my experience, the whole application process was very supportive – Softcat aren’t looking for perfection, they just want to see your character and understand your motivations for the role you are applying for.
