What made you apple to Baker & McKenzie?

Having enjoyed studying law, I wanted to find out whether practising law was really for me. After attending various open days, I decided that Baker & McKenzie was a great place to gain a real insight into life as a practising solicitor. The firm’s strong reputation as a global commercial law firm was a real selling point, as well as meeting very friendly and down-to-earth employees at the firm.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement/internship?

I really enjoyed my time at Baker & McKenzie. The vacation scheme was well organised and achieved a good balance between work and play. I was surprised by how much interesting work I was able to do in my time at Baker & McKenzie. The departmental talks were great as they gave me a deeper understanding of the type of work commercial law firms do. Also, there were plenty of social events to unwind and meet people in a relaxed and informal setting.

What did you enjoy most about your placement/internship?

Above all, I would say meeting the people at the firm was the most enjoyable aspect of the vacation scheme. People from all levels of the firm were very welcoming and unpretentious, which I felt created a friendly and relaxed working environment. Doing the vacation scheme dispelled the misconceptions I had prior to undertaking the vacation scheme about the type of people I would meet and the atmosphere I would be working under.
