INTERNALLY
This is huge for your university, so make sure to share it with the rest of the faculty and staff.
WITH STUDENTS
Autumn intake is well on the way, and with loads of students making their uni decisions, being a Top University for Work Experience is a huge attraction point. Consider featuring it in emails, on social media, around your campus or in your next prospectus and other media.
TAKE ME THEREWITH YOUR PRESS AND MARKETING TEAMS
Let your press and marketing know so they can help spread the word. They may want to write a press release, feature it in their news or share it with other relevant audiences.
How the rankings are made
Every ranking in the table comes from three questions we ask students as part of their work experience review:
Which resources at your university did you find most (and least) useful when looking for work experience?
How would you rate the resources available at your university when looking for work experience?*
How would you rate the support you received from your university when looking for work experience?*
*These are scored out of five.
The final rankings are calculated based on two things:
The average rating a university receives across both scored questions
The volume of reviews submitted by their students.
The more students who review and the higher they score your services, the stronger your university’s position in the rankings.
What it means for your university
Being featured in the rankings isn’t just recognition; they’re useful. Here’s what they give you:
BENCHMARKING
See how your careers service compares to universities across the country. Understand where you’re doing amazing and where there’s room to grow.
CREDIBILITY
Being student-endorsed means a lot. Especially when it comes to prospective students, employers and within your own institution. It’s real proof that your careers team is making a difference.
ENGAGEMENT
We’ve heard time and time again that students don’t always engage with their careers or placement services because they don’t know what they do. When students see that their peers rate your careers support, they’re more likely to use it.
How can you get on the Top Universities for Work Experience table?
If you’d like to increase your position or your chances of getting into the table for 2027, you can encourage students who have done all forms of work experience (internships, placements, insights, spring weeks, vac schemes etc.) to review before Wednesday, 30th September 2026.
Your University will need to receive a minimum of 30 student reviews to be eligible for the upcoming table for 2027-2028.
