Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The spring internship week gives the starter a chance to learn in your first year at university what life is like at Deloitte. you get to meet lots of staff and take part in games, tasks and hear talks from lots of people who work in the company and also a bit more on the areas such as community investment and giving back, which I was not expecting to find out about but was interesting
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
This was another big advantage of the spring into deloitte week as you learn a lot more about what the day to day work involves - what kind of work an auditor does, and you can ask questions to recent starters and interns in the company. As the idea is you become an intern the following year. So it was helpful learning more about things like balance sheet items and testing as this is what you'll end up doing

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I developed my knowledge and awareness of the company. similar to what i said before, i did learn much more about areas such as giving back, volunteering, and the networks and 'pro bono' type activity at deloitte which was very useful to learn about. As when you work somewhere I have realised there is more than simply the day to day work to keep you busy and entertained as it were. This was a big learning

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very good culture. They are professional and orderly, it is a very formal work setting and important work is done with up to FTSE grade companies (clients) so you expect this to a degree. But the people I met were young and friendly, and it was clear there is a career path that as you get older and more experienced you get to work on different areas and take on more responsibility, so this was helpful to learn

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
Yes this was a very useful insight, you do learn a lot and there is a clear structure to each day and what i liked -- lots of chances to speak to staff both new and experienced level, to understand first hand what it is like to work at deloitte. This is great as it is hard to join the dots on corporate websites which contain lots of information, so it was helpful having focus to each day and having questions answered

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
This is clearly a top employer and you can see this from the rewards and recognition in the student space they have won. you can also see the company lots around campus especially around the winter, at fairs and events, so i recommend going to lots of these and meeting the people there as they can give you insight and help your application so that you can stand out from all the other candidates and get a place
