Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was a python developer within a team that is responsible for the maintenance of an internal trading and operations application. On a daily basis I would work on a project or task which required writing code in Python or VBA which could be part of a user or business request.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, one of the positive takeaways from my industrial placement is that I was treated as one more member of the team were I was given as much responsibility as any other employee.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have had the chance the develop multiple skills related to computer science as well as improve my commutation, teamwork and presentation skills. Additionally, I gained understanding into what it means to work in Technology in an Investment Bank.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I felt very supported throughout my placement, I had my buddy and mentor who were always available for me if I had any concerns or doubts as well as felt very welcomed by my team when they offered their help when I had questions. Also, I felt really comfortable with my industrial placement interns cohort.
