Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As a business analyst my role included communicating requirements from key stakeholders back to the technical team, analysing data using Excel and PowerBI and also taking an active role in overseeing and delivering various projects.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given lots of responsibility during my placement year. I was truly an integral and trusted member of the team and was not treated any differently to a full time employee.

I have learnt technical skills such as improved my use and knowledge of Excel and PowerBI. My written communication and business knowledge has also improved.

My manager and team were very supportive throughout my placement - I never felt overly stressed or intimidated by my work.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture at Nomura was very welcoming and fun. There is a relatively flat hierarchy and I always felt able to reach out to anyone for help or just to pick their brain. I enjoyed my work and the relationships I formed there very much.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my placement very much and did not want the year to end. From the work I was doing to the people I was working with there is not anything that I would have wanted to change.

What advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
Relax in the interviews/assessment centers - try to be calm and chatty and also be yourself. From my experience they are not too interested in your technical skills(at least not for the role I was going for) and are more interested in your general personality and whether or not you will fit in with the culture.
