Business Assurance Industrial Placement Review

I assist audit teams in testing business' financial accounting records for their financial year. I work across various areas of a business' finances from fixed assets, stocks, other assets and liabilities as well as profit and loss areas such as revenue, cost of sales, payroll and expenses. We test these areas to ensure they are 'materially' accurate and give a true and fair view of their financial statements.

I have been given as much responsibility as a graduate trainee auditor, so I would say a lot of responsibility and I was not disregarded in any way due to being a placement student.

I have considerably improved my networking skills as the job comes with meeting new people all the time due to working in different teams but also working for such a large company. Also, I have been able to develop my team work skills in a professional environment to help others in my audit team. It has given me a great insight into professional work.

Regular meetings with my people manager and senior members of staff to ensure I am making progress in my role as well as more formal bi-annual reviews

BDO as a whole seems like a great company to work for. All the staff members are so helpful and understanding with any given situation you find yourself in. The office is generally a great place to be to interact freely with your team members.
