SEO Explore Spring Insight Intern Review

During the 4 insight program there was a day dedicated to investment banking, global makrets and corporate functions. Each day we would be offered the oppurtunity to hear from and network with senior members of the business division. We also had the chance to speak to more junior people in order to understand their journey to enter the bank from university, the position we are in now.
Futhermore we also had academic lectures to learn and understand the theory behind the financial concepts involved in the roles the bank offerrs and to better understand the services the bank provides to clients.

This progam was extremly broad in that it covered all the major divisions within the bank.
Each day was dedicated to a specific divison within the bank so the program was set up very well to offer its candidates a very broad overview of how the bank functions as a whole.
Each day we had a very indepth explanation of how that specific divison functioned from both high level senior managers and more junior analysts who had recenlty joined the firm.

As I do not have a finance or economic background I found the lectures about the financial theory especially useful as I learnt a lot about topics and products that I was previously unfamilar with. Furthermore I gained very valuble insight into the experiences employees who had both just joined the firm as a graduate or had a lifelong career at the bank.
As the program offers a very diverse learning experience that covered the main facets of working in the bank I was able to make an informed decision as to which division I would like to persue as my career.

Immediately it became very clear that the bank had a very friendly atmosphere. All the employees, especially the recruitment team, were very welcoming and forthcoming with information when asked questions.
Futhermore there is a tangible sense of a far flatter hierarchy than I expected, even very senior memebers of the bank were happy to engage with me. Furthermore Nomura boasts a strong emphasis on DEI, it offers several networks which are open to any and all employees.

I thoroughly enjoyed the spring insight week at Nomura.
The other candidates were all very friendly and diverse, therefore I was able to meet a lot of like minded people from all over Europe and grow my network. The empolyees were also incredibly forthcoming with their knowledge about the firm and their team and this allowed us to very quickly learn about Nomura and how it operates.
Finally the whole programme was organized and executed with surgical precision which mean that even though it only lasted 4 days we still learnt a lot and met a lot of people.
