Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The program was a 4-day invaluable introduction to Nomura.
The first 2 days were focused on learning about the finance sector through well-organised presentations from Neel Shah from Eschios. I also had the opportunity to learn about the different divisions at Nomura, such as Investment Banking and Global Markets through various presentations and case studies. Throughout the program, I had the opportunity to network with industry experts and learn from their experiences.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The program was focused heavily on introducing the various divisions through a series of presentations and multiple networking sessions. Throughout the program, various networking sessions were arranged for us with members from various divisions and different roles where we had chances to ask questions regarding the potential roles available to us.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I developed teamwork skills through a trading simulation where I had the opportunity to work within a group to derive strategies that will lead to maximum returns.
Through an interactive M&A case study, I developed my analytical skills by analysing financial statements and data to answer questions .
I also had the opportunity to work on my networking skills throughout the program.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Nomura has adopted a very inclusive culture where the views of everyone are heard. Nomura also places a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. The program was also focused on helping us understand the importance of teamwork skills in investment banking through various team case studies and a trading simulation. Overall, the culture and atmosphere are very unique, as Nomura has adopted traditional Japanese values that are reflected in everyone that works for Nomura.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
The experience was invaluable. I particularly enjoyed networking with industry experts throughout the bank and having the opportunity to ask them questions and learn from their experiences. I also enjoyed the very well and planned case studies that were organised for us.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nomura
I would thoroughly recommend Nomura to everyone that wants to apply to Spring Week Programs. The advice I would give is to research Nomura and what it does as an Investment Bank. I would also advise really researching the market conditions and how that affects the work that Nomura does.
