Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
A typical day entailed interactions with investment bankers through departments and the hierarchy. I would typically work on pitch decks, understanding companies and shadowing client calls. It was an opportunity to improve my technical and soft skills.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Understanding each division truly gave me insight into understanding my preferences for my career. I learned new perspectives, and generally speaking with these motivated individuals inspired me.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I was able to improve my professionalism while being approachable and empathetic. Further, this opportunity improved my ability to use Powerpoint and Excel, as many roles require. I understood how technology is integrated into investment banking and hope to refine my skills for the same in the future.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It was highly encouraging and motivating. People guided us through each stop of the process and it was a truly enlightening experience. The company culture makes the teams work as one unit, always looking to grow together.

I would tell them to be themselves because Nomura looks for people with an individual mindset who are willing to work in teams. I would also encourage them to review Nomura deals and the podcast to gauge a preview of their experience.
