Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Spending time on actual desks being able to see trades happening in real life and absorbing technical knowledge from the team whilst being able to network across the floor with many different people. Everyone, even senior management, answering your questions and helping you to figure out what you might like. Daily sessions to improve development both personally and professionally in the financial industry as a woman.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Really easy, the training was really in depth and then when actually on the desks, being able to experience the work firsthand was an invaluable experience. Easy to talk to other desks and understand what every role includes, and what would suit me best.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Lots of technical skills, and technical knowledge to do with global markets, alongside professional networking skills for all levels of seniority. I think that Nomura is great for helping you learn from any existing level of knowledge, and supporting you the whole time whilst you develop your skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazing, everyone was there to help me learn and develop, everyone was friendly and welcoming regardless of seniority. The buddy and mentor system really helped to allow us to integrate into our teams and into the professional setting, as well as giving us a more personal experience.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I loved it so much, I felt that I walked away with valuable knowledge and insights, not only on a technical basis but in terms of developing my career and skills. Made many friends, other interns and employees who made the experience great.

Make the most of the opportunity, remain open to every possibility and be proactive when you have the chance, this is an invaluable experience that you should not waste. Be yourself and be curious, ask as many questions as you can as everyone is there to help you.
