Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

It varies a lot day to day. I help with a lot of projects to improve productivity and efficiency. I work with EY a lot who help provide financial services to us. I then have my own responsibilities to make sure we meet deadlines on time and keep in line with regulations and controls. I use excel a good amount but also talk to people from all around the world regarding tax matters.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, my team was very inclusive and allowed me to get involved in a number of projects which were of high importance. One allowed me to produce work which went all the way to the CFO.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed my excel knowledge, ability to communicate with others, ability to write professional emails and organise my time efficiently. I have become a more productive worker I believe. I've learnt a lot of new financial terms and developed my overall financial understanding.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I received some to begin with which helped me understand my initial role. After this initial handover everyone was extremely helpful whenever I had a question. But they also gave me the opportunity to develop myself and not have my hand held the whole time.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

This company has tried to set it's goals around being welcoming and having good culture. I believe they have done well as everyone I have spoken to has been helpful and supportive.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I've really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if I would like this line of work at all but wanted to get some experience and I'm very glad I did. This has developed all of my skills (soft and technical).
