Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

3/5
The social work apprentice job as an external applicant meant that I have had a lot of jobs throughout my time
On the course and I have received a vast amount of experience in both adults and children’s services. It changed on a day to day basis and I have had experience in day to day roles and other stat roles

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

2/5
This programme was difficult from start To finish. I have enjoyed meeting the people I have been supporting including children and adults. It has been very challenging as an emergency illness came along and I spent a lot of time of sick. I felt completely unsupported and this has been very difficult and has really set me up to understand how challenging the world of social work can be.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have learnt so many new skills such as confidence. This may have been due to the amount of jobs I have had and this has been amazing. I have learnt so much about legislation and the laws that are linked to social work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

2/5
The programme was structured but it was very badly organised between lcc and uclan and it always felt like you never knew who to contact and who was available and you would get different answers for questions. You have so many mentors but non of them are really there for you

How much support do you receive from your employer?

1/5
The support was dreadful. I was off work for 6 months and nobody called me or ever tried to contact me. This has been a very difficult time I was so so unaware of what I was coming back to. I have had no emotional support for this and have had to wait over a year for an occupational therapy assessment

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
The uni have supported me better than my employer and I have had regular reviews

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
This qualification has been so hard to get but i have learnt so much and i believe that I can really make a difference in people’s lives now

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

1/5
No
