Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Woking in the Cyber Operations Team ensuring the defence and security of the council's assets to provide successful services to city of Manchester.
Utilising tools such Microsoft Defender to monitor company assets and respond to any suspicious activity that can pose a threat to the organisation.
Producing cyber security materials to help train staff members and maintain compliance with GDPR laws.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was in charge of a vital project that improved the process of staff members taking their devices abroad for work, by creating a center resource to enable staff to make the right request and take the necessary steps to protect organisation data at all times while being abroad.
Also being a student representative to provide insight on the impactful work the council does for the community and how they can get involved in supporting the great work.

I have obtained vital skills that allow me to be ready for my next professional workplace and assure to be an important asset to the organisation.

The company respected and valued all people, assuring the best support is provided where due and having company benefits to reward staff members.

What advice would you give to others applying to Manchester City Council
I'd reccomend to arrive open and positive because the same energy will be reflected off of the staff present at the organisation.
Most importantly never fear to ask questions, as no question is stupid to be answered.
Lastly, make the most of the time limited time at the company and get involved in extra-cirricular activites the organisation offers.
