Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I am a track apprentice at Network Rail working within the maintenance team to help inspect, and maintain and renew railway infrastructure. My role can involve carrying out inspections with supervisors aswell as being out on track helping the maintenance team replace a rail to task such as helping the track engineer identify re-occurring defects in the depot by gathering data to identify trends. I also have a range of courses inbetween my time at depot which means im always learning along the way. The courses make sure that im trained and competent enough to perform tasks that a qualified technician would so that im ready to move into a technician role after the apprenticeship. I work both on site and in classroom learning environments, following safety procedures, supporting experienced colleagues and developing my knowledge of track engineering, track geometry and railway maintenance practices while also learning how to keep the railway reliable and safe
