Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Given the nature of global markets (sales and trading), there is only so much responsibility an intern can have. However, given the circumstances, I believe I was given many tasks of high value to my managers (such as creating swaps monitors, daily news briefings, presenting trade ideas…). I loved the balance between work and networking I faced

I have developed my excel skills massively, as I was given many challenging excel tasks which pushed me for the better. I have also developed my networking skills via speaking to many employees at RBC, asking them many questions about their careers

Before my internship began, all interns were matched with a Buddy who was there to guide us before and during our internship. I had an amazing buddy who gave me invaluable advice and insight, helping me to make the most of my internship.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
RBC takes pride in their “flat” company structure and very relaxed atmosphere. This culture is unheard of from a top 10 investment bank, and like no other. It is an incredible bank to work for, much credit due to the company culture.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
Though challenging, I absolutely loved my internship experience, as it massively helped with my own personal growth and development as well as character building, to be able to experience and fully immerse in a corporate environment.

RBC takes pride in their culture; they look for someone who would be an asset to the team and get along with the team moreso than being an intelligent person (though, also important!) who you are and what you stand for are essential at RBC. Being able to network and having a hunger to learn about new things every day is a great skill they value highly
