Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

In at 9am, line manager gave me an overview of the day and what tasks to complete at around 9-9.30am. Work through different testing through till lunch ( lunch start time varied day to day from 12.30pm - 1.30pm depending on how long it took me to complete tasks).
Come back continue working on tasks, updating manager where possible.
Out of the office from 5pm, 5.30pm latest

How would you rate the structure of the insight

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Informative, in the first week we were given panel presentations on Audit in general, then all the nuances between the different teams. Senior colleagues were also more than happy to explain their day-to-day when approached. Also enjoyed the team-specific social where i got to understand more about what my team do for AMs and above

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very friendly and helpful. Everyone is approachable no matter how scary their job title is. Office layout was designed so that everyone in audit sat in one section of the office, great for networking or asking for help quickly

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

Most enjoyable part of my summer, i thought it would be a lot more boring than it was. Was also scared coming into it thinking i wouldnt get along with the seniors, but i definitely did

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte

Real emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, communication.
Don't think the work is boring, there actually a lot of variety from payroll testing (great if you're a bit nosey!!), operating expense testing, to even summarising board minutes - great insight into how big companies work, I found out that one of the clients I was working on was involved in the whole Kanye-UK issue!
