Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

assisting Senior Bankers on valuation, financial modeling, preparation of client discussion materials/presentations, market research and opportunity screening. Use of Excel, Powerpoint as well as databases like S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Pitchbook and Refinitiv

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

My team was quite lean so naturally I was given a lot of responsibility early on and was very hands on, learning a lot

I have developed my skills in Excel and Powerpoint as well as learning how to conduct market research, assist with valuation and develop the commercial judgement investment bankers have.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Was supported by my Analyst and Associate, it was holiday season so the team was out of office quite a bit, which made it difficult to connect and always feel supported

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The overall culture and atmosphere of the company was amazing. Everyone was so kind and welcoming which is important for new joiners. Everyone was always open to chat and help and also invest in your development which is quite rare. Nomura is an incredible place to work at where you truly feel like people care about your development and always support you.
