- Shadowing colleagues and getting involved with a wide range of tasks
- Producing first drafts of emails/client deliverables
- Researching nuanced areas of tax law using legislation and HMRC guidance
- Creating a presentation on a relevant topic that interested me

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given the opportunity to have a first go at some real work for clients — although the ultimate responsibility for the accuracy and quality of the work remained with senior colleagues.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

There was strong support throughout my internship. This was facilitated by the 'buddy' system — where interns are paired with a recent graduate who shows them the ropes — but support came from the whole team, not just my buddy.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture was friendly. The importance of a work-life balance was heavily promoted. There were several socials for the whole team during the internship: interns were always invited and made to feel welcome. For the most part, people were generous with their time.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

Greatly. I particularly enjoyed getting involved with real work for clients and finding out whether an office/professional services environment would be right for me in the long term.
