Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During my SVS, I sat in Technology and Transformation in the Human Capital team. Within this, I worked in the Organisation and Workforce Transformation team.
On a day-to-day basis, I supported a client project by attending meetings, taking and distributing detailed meeting notes, creating and updating PowerPoint presentations, and contributing to client-facing deliverables. I was also involved in the planning and delivery of a number of training sessions, where I helped develop training materials, presenter scripts, technical documentation, Q&A resources, and dry run sessions.
Alongside my project work, I collaborated with colleagues across different grades and service lines, participated in networking opportunities, and worked as part of an intern team to develop and present a technology-focused case study.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was treated as a member of the team, rather than just an intern. I was given work and ownership of real project deliverables.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a high level of support and guidance throughout my internship. My mentor, project team, People Lead and wider colleagues were all incredibly approachable and willing to help whenever I had questions. I had regular check-ins, constructive feedback and opportunities to learn from more experienced team members.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone I met was welcoming, approachable and genuinely invested in helping me learn and develop. Despite being in a large organisation, I found the culture to be very inclusive and supportive, and I always felt comfortable asking questions or seeking advice.
One thing that could be improved was work-life balance. You were often expected to work through lunch or after hours to get work done.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship and would rate it as one of the most valuable experiences of my university career so far. The placement gave me the opportunity to contribute to meaningful project work, develop new skills, and gain a genuine insight into consulting and the work of the Human Capital team.

What advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
My advice would be to be yourself throughout the application process and focus on demonstrating genuine curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Deloitte values potential just as much as experience, so don't worry if you don't have all the answers.
If you are successful, make the most of every opportunity available to you. Attend networking events, arrange coffee chats, ask questions and get involved in as much as possible. Some of the most valuable insights I gained came from conversations with people across different teams and service lines.
