Industrial Placement Review

My role included both learning about and completing functional tasks within the SAP system, as well as project management and organisation of events ranging from project team days to after-work event for over a hundred people.

I was definitely given lots of responsibility during my placement, especially as the year passed. I transitioned from supporting the team in constructing test scripts to writing and running test scripts myself, as well as going from a management support role to being the head of project management on my project team.

I developed my skills in organisation and communication, as well as learning how to tailor them to a professional environment. Aside from this, I learnt valuable technology skills, such as how to use AI to assist in making my tasks more efficient, and learning about its potential capabilities in a technology consulting environment.

I received quite a bit of support from my people lead and early talent team, however I received most of my support from people on my project teams who helped me learn lots about SAP and the potential roles within the system.

The company culture was generally good, with a positive atmosphere that was definitely welcoming of newcomers and early talent. People were often keen to share what they know, and supporting of myself and others completely new to the software as well as a corporate setting.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement experience, and I feel I have learned a lot from the experience about the firm, industry, and potential careers going forward.
