Industrial Placement Review

I started doing project management work, tracking actions, managing risks and supporting meetings and presentations. I then switched into a data support role, assisting in mapping workshops, data validation and identifying and fixing defects. After this, I supported on Hypercare operations after the product launch, taking lead of managing tickets by investigating issues, delegating tasks and leading meeting to provide updates on progress.

Yes. I initially was given low-risk tasks as I got to grips with the firm and the project. As I progressed I built trust with my colleagues and gradually gained more responsibility in accordance with my knowledge and skills. Eventually I was trusted with more important tasks which had a greater impact on the overall project.

I learned more about data migration and data analysis and technical skills associated with it. I also learned more about how a project as a whole is managed from start to finish.
I also developed my soft skills a lot, such as communication, collaboration and presenting.

I did receive a lot of support from colleagues around me. Everyone was very open and helpful, particularly when I did not understand something or needed help.
It would have better to have more specific training on the tools I would be using throughout the year, as no formal training was provided, only assistance while working.

The overall environment was very positive. the firm has a very inclusive and welcoming culture and it is very easy to settle in. The firm prioritises wellbeing and there are many resources to help you with this. The atmosphere is very social and enjoyable.

I enjoyed my placement. I met some very good people and learned a lot about the industry and myself over the year. I liked my project experience as I had a good team around me. The only aspect I would change is having the opportunity to explore other projects, industries and non-client work.
