Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was situated in the Customer Experience team at Euston Station. My Role was to improve customer experience within the station. This came by being a project manager running a station wide program with all organisations in the station including Train companies, external stakeholders, and frontline teams. This involved chairing working groups with senior leaders in the station to formulate a plan to deliver my program.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given a eased start for my first month with full line manager support before taking on a lead in the project and organisation of my own role. I was supported with finding external opportunities outside of Euston within the Industry where i could learn and see the transport sector first hand.

I have developed my soft skills such as communication, confidence and problem solving. The new skills i have found most helpful would be meeting deadlines and time management alongside asking for constructive feedback early on during my placement.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

During my placement, i had two different line managers. My first was fully supportive and guided my start into the industry and new role. This changed with my second as i lacked support and my workload rapidly declined.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I thoroughly enjoyed my first 6 months and learned so many skills and helped my development while my project was in full swing. The final 6 months was unstructured and i did not feel supported so my experience declined.
