Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
During the experience, you will be assigned to an engagement teams where you will be assigned different tasks to complete. This may involve completing lead sheets, communicating with clients, compiling evidence and queries, etc. The team around you guides you through each task and gives you coaching. The days are typically 9-5, with an hour break at lunch, and rarely overrun. You may also get the opportunity to visit the client site for your engagement.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given responsibility to complete my tasks and reach out to clients, but the team managed and reviewed my work. Further, none of my tasks were high-impact if they went wrong.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my excel skills greatly, and improved my communication skills. For excel, we had a workshop for it and I learnt actively on the job whilst preparing workbooks. For communication skills, I improved via talking to clients, emailing them and then also communicating with my team on calls, in person and via Microsoft Teams.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received a lot of support and guidance throughout my time at EY. I was assigned a buddy and a counsellor who I could turn to for support or answers. Everyone on my team, and more generally the whole office, were also very friendly and always willing to help. The only negative would be that my workflow didn't feel very guided at times. I mostly had to chase up people for work myself.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was warm and friendly, whilst also remaining professional. There were a lot of young staff, so I didn't feel out of place. We had intern drinks one night which was nice as people from around the office turned up.

What advice would you give to others applying to EY
Make sure to get your opinion heard during assessment centers, without being too overbearing. Complete the other stages to the best of your ability but don't lie- just be yourself!
