Insights and Analytics Intern Review

My day-to-day comprised of completing regular reporting using excel and Power BI, answering ad-hoc data-based requests, and working on my own projects to improve automations and reporting.

I was given a lot of responsibility. At the start the placement year was very low pressure as I was becoming familiar with the tools and data. Towards the end of the placement year, once I had settled in and asked for more responsibilities I was given these opportunities - I created two new reports and took over one of the Regions Strategy and Insights.

Yes, I've learnt Power BI and Tech Edge, and became a lot more familiar with excel. I've also developed a lot of soft skills - communication, leadership, showing initiative etc.

At the beginning I received a lot more support and guidance - but as I become more settled in I was allowed to have more independence in my work. Even when I had more independence I was still always able to get the support I needed without any questions being asked.

The culture was great, it was very inclusive and more of a family dynamic. Everyone was very respectful of each others time and priorities and I felt as though a lot of trust was given to everyone in terms of managing their own workloads and expectations. There's not a massive 'play hard' element where people tend not to do massive socials or drink loads - but this isn't something I was looking for personally so I was very happy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, my coworkers were lovely, the work was challenging but relatively enjoyable, and I was given a lot of opportunities to grow in my career.
