Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

My experience on the Deloitte Summer Vacation Scheme was extremely valuable and rewarding. Throughout the programme, I gained first-hand insight into the work of an Audit & Assurance professional and was able to contribute to real client engagements.

How would you rate the structure of the insight

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Understanding the business and the range of roles available was one of the most valuable aspects of the experience. Through client work, training sessions, networking events, and conversations with colleagues across different grades, I gained a much clearer understanding of how Deloitte operates and the impact its services have on clients. I was able to learn about the different career paths available within Audit & Assurance and how these roles develop over time. Speaking with professionals at various stages of their careers gave me insight into the skills required for success and helped me better understand the opportunities available within the firm.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes. During the placement I developed my Excel skills significantly through working with client data and audit testing. I became more confident using functions, analysing large datasets, organising information efficiently, and ensuring the accuracy of my work.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture was excellent and one of the highlights of my experience. Everyone I worked with was welcoming, supportive, and approachable, regardless of seniority. I felt comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance, which created a positive learning environment. The atmosphere was collaborative and professional, with colleagues genuinely invested in helping interns develop and succeed. The culture made it easy to build relationships, gain confidence, and feel like a valued member of the team throughout the placement.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme and would rate it extremely highly. The experience exceeded my expectations by providing meaningful work, excellent learning opportunities, and exposure to real client engagements. I gained valuable technical and professional skills while working alongside supportive colleagues who were genuinely invested in my development.
