Spring into Deloitte Programme Review

The Spring into Deloitte programme provided an insight into what it would be like to work at Deloitte post graduation and what careers are available in relation to the finance sector. Throughout the programme, I took part in various interactive discussions with my group and networking sessions with Deloitte professionals from different areas of the business. Overall, the programmed reinforced my interest in pursuing a career with Deloitte and in finance and professional services while allowing me to build connections with industry professionals and leaders.

This programme provided a deeper and rich understanding of Deloitte as a business and the wide range of career opportunities there is to offer within the firm. Through workshops, presentations and speaking with employees, I learned how different areas of divisions in Deloitte like Audit, Assurance and Tax work together to help clients solve business challenges. Hearing directly from graduates and professionals allowed me to identity further which business area I am most interested in that align with my strengths.

I was able to learn more about revenue recognition, something I have previously touched briefly during my first year of University. I learnt more about the prudence convention where a business should not overstate their assets or profits. Therefore, a task I had done ensured that I was recognising revenue of a company in the next accounting period or the last depending on the date that the item was received by the customer. For example if a customer recieved an item on the 1st January 2026 then the company should not recognise the revenue in their 2025 income statement as revenue is only recognised when the customer has possession of the product.

Culture and general atmosphere was very welcoming and professional. From the minute I started the programme to the end, I felt very comfortable. All the Deloitte employees were very appreciative and approachable when asking questions to them. Everyone was encouraged to contribute during workshops and group activities and overall, everyone was very engaging and supportive .

I deeply enjoyed the insight programme. It provided me an excellent opportunity to learn more about Deloitte, explore different career pathways available and gain a better understanding of the work carried out across the firm in different business sectors. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience that strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in finance and hopefully in Deloitte.
